Winter in June

Madeline put on long sleeved pajamas after her bath this evening. Jeff told her that she'll be too hot in them, and suggested that she put on more seasonal jammies. She told him that she wouldn't be hot...."see"

ShuSac

Lola loves to dance. For a few weeks she's been asking for shu-sac. It took us a while, but now we understand it to mean MUSIC.

Quiet Reading Time

Jeff found Lola sitting in her rocking chair, reading books this afternoon. Madeline joined her for a picture.

Goofball

Giraffe

Madeline and Jeff have started to create animals out of these giant lego blocks. It started as a horse, but Mads added a super long neck...and here is the giraffe.

Mullet Head

So Lola got her first haircut today. Mads got a hold of some scissors, a comb and a spray bottle and gave Lola a "yittle trim" because her hair was a "yittle bit in her eyes." I wanted to laugh, but Sweet Lola looked so absurd. The funniest thing though is that Lola stood still as Madeline mastered the style. She even cried, "More water, more water" as I took the spray bottle away. So Lola doesn't get the cheesy picture of her first haircut, but she gets one hell of a story.

Cameltoe

This is what Mads put on this morning when I told her to get dressed. It doesn't even fit lola anymore. I think it's a size 9 months. I asked her if it was uncomfortable and she said, "No." ????? Being the good parent that I try to be, I refused to allow her to go outside of the house in it.

Ring Around the Chair

We discovered a new game....ring around the chair. Mads and Lola are really playing together and having fun. I was driving Jeff crazy with the stiupid songI'd sing to "Shake Your Booty." It went, "Spin, spin, spin, run, run run, around the chair, around the chair....and all sorts of derivations... But the kids loved them and Lola was even trying to sing along.

Like Big Sister

Lola is wanting to do everything that Mads does. There is very little independent thought...but what do you expect at 19 months of age. Madeline now prefers watermelon in big slices, as opposed to little chunks....and so does Lola.

Swimming

This summer (well summer in terms of temperatures being over 100 here!) has already seen huge accomplishments in Mads and Lola's swimming abilities. Not even 3 weeks ago, Madeline said that she didn't want a pool anymore and wouldn't even sit on the steps or put her feet in the water. Now she can swim without floaties. We're working on swimming under water and considering how quickly she's progressed, I don't think it'll take long.

And Lola is a water baby. She's figured out how to keep her head above the water with floaties on. Her favorite thing is to float on her back, just chillin' in the water and then to flip over, put her face in the water and then laugh. She is totally crazy.
