TEXAS

For Spring Break this year, we went to Texas. The original plan was to drive, but as I was planning our trip, I realized it was 16 hours away....yes I should have realized that earlier....but it was just too much so we flew into Houston and had a great time visiting with Mim and Papa and the rest of the fam in Houston. Then we drove to Austin and hung out with Darcy and Daniel and I even got to see my childhood neighbor, Charles! Next we were off to San Antonio to see Naynie and GG. While there we went to Sea World. Mads now takes giant shamu bites while she eats and still asks, "Who wants to get wet?!?!?!" From San Antonio, we went back to Austin for my cousins wedding, which was beautiful and then back to SA that night. It was busy, but fun!

She's ready!

Getting so old

Both of the girls are getting so old...and so fast. Lola doesn't talk a whole lot, but she has a few words and can usually get her point across. Cast in point: today she walks into Maria's kitchen, opens the cupboard and takes out a bag of rice. She walks it to Maria. Maria asks if she wants rice and Lola emphatically shakes her head yes. A few minutes later, Lola is happy with a big bowl of rice, butter and cheese.

Speaking of eating, Madeline is trying to master her knife skills. She really likes to cut her own food....with plastic play knives nonetheless, but they do the job!

RAIN!

Finally! I know we live in the desert, but it's been over 4 months since we've had a drop of rain. My allergies have been horrendous due to the dust and pollen that hasn't been washed away. So Madeline had a fun day with her umbrella and rainboots!

Mardi Gras

Maybe I am slow, but I just learned that Mardi Gras literally means Fat Tuesday. I always knew that it fell on Fat Tuesday....just never made the exact connection. My Aunt Pam and cousin Alicia were driving through town and stayed the night with us. The brought the girls some Mardi Gras masks!
